Proposal for an omnibus simplification directive published on 26 February 2025

As part of a legislative package published on 26 February 2025, the European Commission proposed a substantial simplification in sustainability (Omnibus I) and EU investment programs (Omnibus II).
This legislative package aims to simplify the rules on sustainability (CSRD), vigilance (CS3D) and Taxonomy. The main aim of these proposals is to alleviate the burden on SMEs.
On 3 April 2025, Parliament adopted the 2-year postponement of CSRD and one-year postponement of CS3D by voting on the ‘Stop the clock’ text in plenary. Negotiations on amendments to the Directives are forthcoming.
