SU - FINMA 2022 risk monitoring: increased risks due to uncertain outlook

12/01/2023

On November 10, 2022, the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority FINMA identified seven significant risks for the financial sector in its 2022 risk monitoring. Priorities for oversight are derived from these.

FINMA identifies seven main risks for the financial sector. Six had already been identified in last year’s risk monitoring, namely: interest rate risk, credit risk for mortgages, credit risk for other credits, risk of cyber attacks, anti-money laundering risk and te risk related to difficulties in accessing foreign markets. Apart from the risks related to cyber-attacks – which it still considers as high – FINMA notes an increase in risks compared to the previous year in all the other areas mentioned. The increase in risk premiums (credit spreads) is added for the first time as an additional risk in risk monitoring.
