STS securitisations held by insurance companies
On 10 September 2018, the Delegated Regulation on capital requirements applicable to Simple, Transparent and Standardised (STS) securitisations held by insurance and reinsurance companies was published in the Official Gazette.
The aim of this Delegated Directive is to ensure that European insurance regulations emanating from the Solvency II Directive are compatible with European regulations on simple, transparent and standardised (STS) securitisations. Most especially, it amends the method for measuring the statutory capital requirements regarding securitisations held by insurance and reinsurance companies to prevent insurance companies from being bound by different requirements imposed by the securitisation regulation and the Solvency II Directive. The Delegated Regulation came into effect on 30 September 2018 and is enforceable since 1 January 2019.
