The Pan-European Personal Product Regulation
On 25 July 2019, there was published in the Official Journal of the European Union Regulation (EU) 2019/1238 on a pan-European personal pension product (PEPP).
PEPP will offer consumers a mobile, pan-European personal pension plan to save for retirement. This new product is designed to give savers more choice with competitive products, portability, and consumer protections. It can be offered by a broad range of financial providers including insurance companies, asset managers, banks, certain investment firms, and certain occupational pension funds. The Regulation will come into force on 14 August 2019. It will start to apply 12 months after publication of the delegated acts referred to in Article 28(5) (Content of the PEPP KID), Article 30(2) (Revision of the PEPP KID), Article 33(3) (Provision of the PEPP KID), Articles 36(2) and 37(2) (PEPP benefit statement), Article 45(3) (Basic PEPP) and Article 46(3) (Risk-mitigation techniques).
