ESMA report on draft Technical Standards on Reporting under SFTR

On 31 March 2017, ESMA published its Final Report on draft Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS) and Implementing Technical Standards (ITS) under the Securities Financing Transaction Regulation (SFTR) specifying, inter alia, how to fulfill reporting obligations.

On 31 March 2017, ESMA published its Final Report on draft Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS) and Implementing Technical Standards (ITS) under the Securities Financing Transaction Regulation (SFTR) specifying, inter alia, how to fulfill reporting obligations. The ESMA’s final standards provide detailed provisions on a ranges of issues, including the use of ISO 20022 methodology for reporting, validation and access to data, the use of standardised identifiers such as LEI, UTI and ISIN, defined access levels for different public authorities, and the registration and extension of registration of trade repositories. The draft technical standards under SFTR have been submitted to the European Commission (EC) for endorsement, who has three months to decide to endorse them or not.
