On 21 January 2017, the revised Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS) and Implementing Technical Standards (ITS) for EMIR were published in the official journal of the European Union. Both the RTS and the ITS will apply as from 1 November 2017 with the exception of Article 1(5), which  applied on 10 February 2017. EMIR trade reporting will go through significant changes. ESMA’s final standards provide detailed provisions on a ranges of issues, including the use of ISO 20022 methodology for reporting, validation and access to data, the use of standardised identifiers such as LEI, UTI and ISIN, defined access levels for different public authorities, and the registration and extension of registration of trade repositories. The same day, the European Commission published a delegated regulation and an implementing regulation amending the RTS and ITS on the minimum details of the data to be reported to trade repositories under EMIR.
